My students always love when we get to play new games during our centers and small groups. These CVC bugs were a big hit with my students, and BONUS they helped us work on becoming confident readers.
LET’S PREP!
To prep this activity, simply print the bugs (cardstock is best for durability) and laminate. When you cut the bugs apart, make sure to cut on the dotted line at the top, and right through each bugs’ eyes to separate the puzzle pieces:
LET’S PLAY!
This game includes 48 different CVC words for students to practice, which makes it perfect for students to use multiple times during centers. I first played this game with my kiddos during small groups to make sure that they got the hang of it. I separated the bug pieces into piles: One pile with all the CVC words and the other pile with pictures.
Students practiced reading each CVC word and then finding the picture that matched. Once they matched the word and picture together they built their bug!
Seasonal and themed centers are always a HUGE hit with my students. To see more of our favorite centers, click on the picture below:
Another center that we are LOVING right now are these fun hot dog subtraction puzzles! Summer themed centers are so engaging for students. 🙂
