Good morning friends!!
I feel like I have been such a slacker on blog posts and freebies lately, and I apologize! I wanted to tell you about a fun little song that I sing to my kiddos to help them get ready and to transition quickly. I usually sing little diddys to my class to help motivate them to put their things away faster and to get settled, etc… and I always throw a few students’ names in there to help them get excited.. they LOVE to hear their names in a song!!
My go to tune for a song is simply the tune of “Are you Sleeping?” It’s easy to fit almost any words or phrases to this melody which is why I love to use it.
Yesterday, I literally started singing the “Who is Ready?” song to my kids without even planning it! I was in a good mood, had my coffee and was just having a good morning of teaching, and it came out!!
It goes like this:
Who is ready?
Who is ready?
With their supplies?
With their supplies?
(student’s name) is ready.
(student’s name) is ready.
(student’s name) is too.
(student’s name) is too.
That’s it!! Simple as that! You can change the “With their supplies?” line to anything else! Like “On the carpet” or “with their math book” etc.. whatever you need the kids to have out and be ready with, you can put that here!
