Can you believe that the end of the school year is already here? I LOVE doing special activities the last few weeks of school with my students so that they have special keepsakes to always remember their time in my class.
KINDERGARTEN MEMORY FLIPBOOKS
The last two school years, I have had my students complete memory flip books about their kindergarten school year. They always turn out SO cute, and my students have a blast making them! This flipbook includes 6 pages per student. When copying the pages, it is fun to use a variety of fun paper colors. However, it also looks great to just use white paper! That way, students can color each page how they would like.
Each page is a different length to make the staggered look of the flipbook. After I copy the pages, I have my students cut out each page on the dotted line. They can use the extra paper scraps later to draw on during free time. 🙂
PUTTING THE BOOKS TOGETHER
I generally spend about 2-3 days on this activity with my students. I don’t want to rush! Each page is special and important. I do the bottom page first. On this page, students get to write about something that they learned in kindergarten. There is space for them to draw a picture.
The next page asks for students to recall their favorite thing that we did in class:
Then, students get to write about recess time!
The pages get smaller as we go since all 6 pages will be stacked on top of each other to make the flipbook. The next page is an autograph page for classmates to sign.
After that, we do a page that tells about our school and classroom:
Finally, students get to decorate the cover for the top of the book!
When we finish all 6 pages, I have my students stack them on top of each other with the shortest paper on top. The book gets stapled on top of the two staple marks and students are then able to flip through their work!
Students have a very special keepsake when we are all finished with this project. 🙂
You can find this memory book here in my TPT store! Also included is another flipbook version that only uses two pages! To make this flipbook, students cut on the dotted lines on the top page only. The bottom page is where they record their memories. The book gets stapled on both sides, and creates fun flaps for students to look back on their memories!
