I LOVE using themed centers in my classroom, especially ones that involve cute animals like dogs! These number puzzles are perfect to use as we start the school year. The puzzles focus on numbers 0-10, and are a great way for students to work on counting, number recognition, number order, and even sorting!
LET’S PREP!
To prep this game for my students, I printed all of the pieces on cardstock and laminated for durability. Then I cut out the puzzle. Make sure to cut on the dotted lines to separate all 3 pieces!
I sorted the puzzles into 3 piles for my students:
LET’S PLAY!
To play this game, I had students start by picking a bone from the pile, and counting the dots on the ten frame:
Next, they found the group of dogs with the same number. In this example, number 4!
Finally, they looked for the dog house with the correct matching number on it to complete the puzzle.
Once students had played this game with me a couple of times, it became the perfect independent station activity! I used it along with the rest of our BACK TO SCHOOL CENTERS.ย
We also love this fun goldfish themed alphabet center. Anything with animals is always a big hit in my classroom ๐ย
